Problem.

Sameer Rajwani had already been running a few hotels around Andheri and Santacruz locality in Mumbai. They were planning to launch a smart boutique hotel near Chakala at Andheri East. A five storey establishment with pool, a rooftop dining, and other state of the art facilities. The client needed an approachable brand name that would easily distinguish from all short term local chains yet have a strong sound attached to it.

Solution.

The name Widlor leverages classic hotel and hospitality associations and is developed to travel the world literally and linguistically. The construction of the word, consonant-vowel–consonant–vowel, is the most fundamental formation of words in all languages. Our objective was to have a sound that has a sense of legacy attached to it. Widlor was inspired by the word Wide which is another term for Ample in terms of smart planning at the hotel. We knew we did not need youthful brand names like Treebo, FabHotel or Lemon Tree instead of something that sounds ancient. We successfully helped them acquire the trademark and the domain widlor.com. The hotel was supposed to launch in May, 20 but due to the pandemic would start around February, 21.
